Local pride

Every day we see cars driving around with this Finger Lakes bumper sticker.  We also see a lot of cars with other place name acronyms like ADK (Adirondacks) and WG (Watkins Glen).  It’s fun to try and figure out where people (and their cars) are from.  I find it interesting that people identify so strongly with one part of the state or another that they’re prepared to exclaim it from their cars.  Am I attributing too much to a bumper sticker?

We’ve bought one of these FLX stickers, but have yet to place it on our car.  For now, our loyalty rests with the West Coast, a pride we prefer to exhibit not so subtly in the privacy of our own home.
